這裡be by表示拜訪或到達之意。

7、bring something into focus

be in focus表示事情清楚明白，而bring something into focus則表示使事情清楚明白。

8、get by

I’ll get by with a bicycle until we can afford a car. (在買得起小汽車之前騎自行車也將就了。) 這裡get by表示日子過得去，就是口頭上常說的湊合、將就。

9、put up
All the office workers believe that the appointment of the new director was put up. (辦公室的人都知道新主任的任命已經內定了。)
這裡put up表示秘密安排某事。

10、Hang in there. = Don't give up. = Keep trying.（再堅持一下。)
